Default Advice needed

I am looking at spending max $5000 on a bike. I am only 5'5 and know that a sportster is pretty comfy for my size. I have found two bikes that I like and would like some advice. I am concerned about the 2000 only having 2300 miles. It looks fine and started up no problem at all. The carb was recently cleaned and battery replaced. I have not seen the 2004 but know that he is willing to go down to $5300. Any advice is appreciated as I am lost.
Thanks all!

If it were me i think I would go with the 2000. My buddy just found 2004 with 735 miles on it some people just dont ride them. The 04 is more custom but the 2000 has less miles on it and you can customize it the way you want.

I wouldn't buy either one of them. If you've got 5K I would look for a 07 or newer, you should be able to find one for between 5K and 6K. Unless you want a carb, but I've got both carb and EFI and if I had to choose, I would choose EFI.

Just my 2 cents.

I would get the 2000 in a heartbeat as he is selling for health reasons and most likely an older guy. Way cheaper, room to lower price with cash in hand and who cares about extras on other. Crap mine I just bought I sold a few extras that came with the bike that I didn't like and will pocket back almost 400 bucks. For me the beauty of owning a Harley is putting my extras/lucky charms on it.

Doesn't the 2004 have a rubber mounted engine?

It would be rubber mount but it's at a cost of almost 1/4 the price of the bike and alot more miles whereas I would almost guess the 2000 was taken out on Sunday cruises and prolly babied. Hehe
It might need a good hammering on the highway to blow out some carbon lol.

The 2000 model is listed as a "C" model, but it's not.....It's an XLH "Standard" model....You can tell by the buckhorn bars, a tach added, mid controls with highway pegs, and the 19" front tire.

Both are over priced at those numbers. The 2004 has the rubber mounted engine. The 2000 is lighter weight, and the parts are interchangable with other sporties of '96 through '03, (more years). The '04 is only compatible with other sporties of '04 through '06.

I think it's maybe just because I like the more modern technology of EFI.

Both bikes are a blast to ride and of course the 1975 is an XLCH, no electric start. It's a great bike, always starts great and runs nice, but after riding it for a couple weeks it's fun to get on the 07 and ride that for a while, really like a cadillac compared to riding the 1975.

I do really enjoy having the best of both worlds, but if I was just starting out, getting my first bike I'd go for the EFI.
