Default air filter modification

Heres an inexpensive air cleaner modification that I thought I would share with everyone. I don't think that its never been tried before but, I thought that I could bring it up again. I have a 06 883L. I took an old filter and using a dremel tool with a cut off blade, split it in half. I took out all the filtering material with another tool right down to the plastic base. I then placed the two halves back together using some machine screws and nuts along with some spacers. I ended up with a sturdy filter frame that was able to go back into the cleaner assembly minus the filter media. I took some airconditioner filter replacement material and cut it in strips to the size needed to go around the filter assembly. I stapled the ends together. I ended up with a decent filter that did'nt cut down on any air flow to the carb. Drilled out several holes in the back plate, just enough to maintain the integrity of the plate without weakening or warping it to allow additional air flow. I was able to put the chrone cover back on without any problem (provided the machine screws were not too long). Viola! I now have a screaming sparrow. Rejetted of course. Cycle shack slip-ons of course. Increase in performance, of course. Carb issues, none. Plenty of filter material to cut in strips again for maintainance. Filter material easily washable.

Sounds lke a good idea, but without pics it's hard to envision. Therefore, don't take it personally when I say...

Thanks thumper. You're right. I'm afraid to tell you, I just don't know how to put any kind of a picture on the computer. It's all I can do just to do this. You should see how long it takes me to type stuff up as it is.
