heybaylor, Thanks. I was hoping it was something along those lines. So I should see it no problem once I pull the primary cover? Never had that off before, any other things I need to look out for? I assume I will have to change the gasket as well for the cover.
Be very carefull removing the screws on the primary, lots of people strip them.
Try tapping on them with a punch first then use a good quality tool for removal, be sure to use a new gasket and locktite on the screws when you put it back together.
Got the primary off and found part of a spring in there (see picture) The rest of the spring is on the base of the shifter shaft and I have no idea how to get it off. Any suggestions?
Get the manual for sure.
After we got everything stripped down, my buddy that owns a shop took over. The shifter shaft is held on by those springs clamping down and holding it in place.
He had to loosen the clutch pack just a bit to get enough room to pull the shifter shaft out.
If you know what you are doing like my buddy, it takes about 1.5 - 2 hours.
Get all new gaskets, fluids and if you need a whole new shifter it cost about $75
