Was wondering what the longest ride you've done on a Sportster. I have an 05 1200C and want to make some runs next summer. The bike has been in storage since I bought it in late 05 due to deployments and now I am just back and it will be laid up for the winter again. Are three and four hundred mile days if one is set up properly?
So far my longest ride is 200+, I am planning on some long ride next summer.

I love the stock seat, others hate it.
This is what holding me back from getting a aftermarket seat, the stock seat is so comfortable. My friend got a 04 Softail, he ordered more than three 2-up seats but none of them are comfortable for long ride, gel... you name it. Finally he gave up, trade in for a 07 Softail custom. LOL What a good excuse to get a brand new bike.
I've done 500 miles in a day, mostly mountain & canyon country. Only about 60 miles on the interstate. I got the pillowtop seat from HD & it was great. The stock seat was too narrow for my middleaged butt

1700 miles. I flew from Az to Tenn. to get my 05 1200 C. Two of the days coming back with the bike were 10 hour days. Stock seat works great for me. You probably have to also factor in that I'm 72 years old.
But ya 500+ a day is doable, just depends on how stead fast you are. Because you WILL want to go home after 300 miles. The real trick at that point is to focus on the ride again and not your acheing knees.
