Default 2002 Needed tires

Hi everyone, I have a 2002 XLH which I have converted so I would be comfotible to tour with. I have explained the story in a prior post. When I got the bike last year it had low mileage. Approx. 8000 miles, and in top shape. I added all the items that I needed to ride comfortibly due to my spine and other injury's that Happened in 09. Can you imagine. 27 years as an airbore Ranger, and many missions including black ops, and never got hurt except for a bit of metal from a mine stauck in my leg. I had to quit, go to work for a civilian company to get an injury to get hurt badly with a spine injury along with other damage(sucks). Anyway to the point. I just had to change my tires on my sporty. It had over 14000 miles on it and still had the original equipment tires.
Anyway they needed changing to pass inspection. I did some research, watched some videos of people who have bought and so far have gotten great results from Shinko tires. I found one on e-bay from a harley dealer in Ohio. I paid 58.00 and change with free shipping. I orderd it this past Thursday. They sent it out Fed ex 2 day shipping. Naturaly, I didn't expect it until Monday or Tuesday. I'll be darned if it wasent deliverd on Saturday!! Never in my wildest dreams did I belive it would come home delivery on a Saturday!
Anyway, took about 45 minutes to install. Then took it out for a test ride. About 100 miles thru the roads here in the Adirondacks. No problems whatsoever. Great tire for the money as far as looks go, and handling goes. We will have to see how many miles it will last, but I am guessing it should last as long as the old tire did.
If you are looking for a good deal on tires, give Shinko a try. They are wanting to make a name for themselves, and the prices are great. I see a lot of bikes with them on, so hopefully we can get some good tires at a cost that we all can afford.

Probable somewhere between 1/2 to 2/3 the mileage you got from the Dunflops.

Most Sporty riders with a 19" front wheel get about twice the mileage out of the front tire as they do from the rear, but a lot depends on how you ride it and the types of roads you ride. Highway miles are pretty easy on front tires, while twisties chew them up.

Well, I put a dunlop 401 on the rear about four weeks ago. The shinko on the front is the exact same size as the dunlop that was removed. Funny thing is... The tread pattern is exactly the same as the dunlop that came off the front. From what other riders that I spoke to at the stealership. The ones who have also swithed to the shinko have told me that they are getting the same or better mileage. I guess that anytime you put new rubber on , you can't help but get good mileage. I guess that I will find out in the long run, as the tire wears, what kind of mileage that I'll get. I really am more concerned about how long the tire will last.

Hey, I hear you about the Avon's. I would have loved a set of them but I am a diabled Vet and live on 40.00 a week, so I had to go with what was in reach for me. Hell, I have a hard enough time affording Gas! LOL
