how necessary is the mounting bracket between the carburetor and the cylinder heads? i see a lot of CV carbs on ebay, and none seem to include the bracket. i would think it's important due to vibrations. i know it's probably a dumb question.
i am trying to change from my S&S super e to a CV, and keep it cheap...i can barely afford to insure my bike at the moment, and i just cant get the super e tuned right. we've taken it off, cleaned it, rejetted it a few times. it was rebuild the year before last, and a new accelerator pump last year. i just want to ride, i'm hoping i can get it running better, but i don't have 100s of dollars to spend on it right now. i have been riding it the way it is.
You have to have the bracket. The flange on a CV isn't long enough to mount clamp-style. You can use one from an older Buell. They're around 25 bucks new at the dealership.
But don't you also need to change your intake manifold?
