Default jetting recommendations

i have 3 HDs, an '06 1200C which i sold to my daughter. a EFI '06 dyna and a '07 UC. pretty familiar with what it takes to correct the lean conditions caused by changing the AC and slip-ons on the EFI models (I use a SERT). Daughter is wanting to put a high flow AC and slip-ons on the Sporty (which obviously is carb'd). Any recommendations on jetting (is there a standard jet package to do this? I know the size depends alot on other variables: altitude, engine, etc), but do want a start point.

I live pretty close to sea level and as part of a 1200 conversion, V&H straightshot slip-ons & SE A/C I went with 180 & 45. Personally, I would check with a well known Indy or a HD mechanic if you know one thay will be straight with you. I checked my plugs after 100 miles and they're right where they should be color wise. BTW I still have the 883 heads and cams so that may make a difference. Only the Dyno knows for sure.

Concur. For all except CA bikes, 45/180 is where most people start. Have heard a couple change the main up or down, but only a few.

My dealer says over 90% only need the 45 slow jet changed and the main can be left alone.I did my wifes bike last weekend and might do mine tomorrow. Her bike starts much easier and you can push the choke in much quicker. There has not been one carb fart since the 42 jet was changed to 45.They did say on rare occasions the slow jet needs to be a 50.A 180 is the suggested step up on the main for a 1200.Here is a chart from another website. The first main jet size is for pipes or a/c only the second is for both.I spent $12 for two 45 slow jets. You can get a jet kit on ebay that has both for about $30 with shipping.I would go to the dealer and ask for a 45 slow jet and a 180 main if you really think your daughter will be running full throttle alot.I may add the main to mine for a comparision test.By the way you will need to buy a screwdriver or make one that will fit up inside the tube for the slow jet.I ground down an old phillips into a flat blade. If you are careful you don't even need to remove the carb unless you want to drill out the idle mixture srcew.I have seen on another site that the mixture screw is about dead on and it didn't need adjusted on my wifes bike.
