Default Want open risers

Hey guys, new to the forum, so I am starting to unload a bunch of things I want to do with the bike, and get feedback and advice. My Sportster is a 98 Anniversary. For some reason, I have been unhappy with the way my riser/handlebar area looks. My bikes risers/triple tree/forks, look different from other peoples Sportsters that I know. May be the year or version, I am not real savy on Sportster differences yet. Anyways, my risers are pretty tall, and the stock handlebars just plain look weird. So, I have new bars installed, and still don't like the look. Think I would like to get the cover off of the risers, and open it up. Problem is, there is a huge wiring harness that would have to be taken out, and everything re-wired and run inside the risers, and then the bars. Has anyone been down this road? I am very comfortable with wiring/soldering/heatshrinking, but would like any advice from someone who has done it. The other issue is the dummy lights are mounted in the front of the top clamp, so they would be hanging down between the risers, and looking kind of dumb. Any suggestions? Here are some pics of my bike-

You have the "Custom" risers. There's nothing in there if you take off the "covers" they actually are the riser itself. I took off my custom set up, it was kind of a pain but not bad. Start here at post nine.

There are ALOT of wires in there. The 04 & up Custom model bikes don't have the plugs & wires in there,

Yeah, its a big fat harness with a ton of wires. I haven't had the cover off in awhile, may take another look and see if I want to tackle it or not. Would probably have to buy a new speedo bracket that has the dummy lights at the bottom. Still want to run my wires in my handlebars to clean that up a bit. Got to get the courage to drill holes in the bars though.

Well for what it's worth, they're just stainless drag bars. Easy & cheap to replace if you mess them up. Someone on here just had a thread about cutting them down short. On my 03 I relocated and shortened that harness and just used shorty riser bottoms with the stock top clamp. I relocated my speedo though.

You got any pictures bro? Really interested in the relocation of the harness and speedo. Wouldn't mind seeing the riser setup too.
