That's great thx. Lost my manual.
Without the whole debate, what oil are u using? I use 20/50 in the engine as per manual......so what do you use in the primary?
I change mine with every oil change - 2500 mile intervals, manual says at 1000 then every 10000 miles on my 2010. You already have the drain pan under there anyway and the tranny is only a quart to replace. Cheap insurance.
For me, Valvoline dino VR1 60w summer, 20w50 winter for engine, and last 2 tranny changes, WalMart Supertech 75w90 syn blend gear oil. Clutch engagement and shift sound just like the Mobil 1 and Redline light shockproof I've run, and about half the price. Supertech is made by Warren Petroleum, has WPP on bottom of bottle, and label says it inhibits corrosion of brass and bronze componets, which means it should be safe for copper in the stator.
Prefer gear oil over motor oil in the trans for shear factor since these trannys are so damn clunky anyway. Clutch works perfect with it too.
Thanks guys, went to the squeelership and picked up what they recommended. What the hell, paying 25-35% more for the logo is no suprize.
The saddest thing though, is I rode my 65 pan to pickup the oil and it just so happened that a customer appreciation day was going on.
I was there hanging out for 30 minutes and not one person said anything about the pan......no interest at all, not even a "what year is it"
Unless you have the cleanest paint job and the newest radio in your bagger, no one cares.
