I have a security system on my bike, i have a keychain with a button on it that came with my key and bike. click and hold to arm, and double tap it to disarm. I thought it was a factory thing. Basically it kills the ignition if you try to start the bike without disarming the security system.

My answer would be in the form of a question - what's the point? Bikes are SO easy to steal, and the HD alarm is one with zero recovery features.
Two skateboards and two guys are all that's needed to wheel your bike away much more quickly than you could get to it. Nobody heeds any sort of auto alarm anyway, can you imagine anyone telling a couple of bike thieves to stop stealing your bike just because the alarm was going off? (me either)
I went a different direction - "find it now" - www.finditnowusa.com - it still isn't perfect but it gives me more comfort. It is a cell/gps tracker with motion sensing built in (better than lojack and more coverage)
The unit is simple to install and sends me txt or email alerts on whatever I so desire. If the bike senses motion for 4 seconds or more an alert is generated. I can send a txt message to my bike and it will return it's exact location to me! If it moves, I get a txt. If someone sits on it, i get a text. I can set an alert for a max speed, a battery low condition (will save your *** if you leave the headlamp on), if the battery is disconnected, if the bike goes out of a predefined area, and many more. They claim to have recovered 100% of vehicles stolen with this device installed.
IMO, this is way better than the stupid HD alarm.

Depends on the year and if you are installing a siren with it.
For the newer models it is super simple. Pop-off current unit (non-alarm module) and plug in the alarm module.

i got the answer for you. okay the turn signal module under the battery infront of the back tire can be switched out for one with alarm option. the key blink is to show that the tsm is in working order. if the key lights up and stays lit then somethings wrong with the tsm. i just had this issue a month ago with a broken power wire to the tsm, i could jump the starter and the bike would start up and run but i couldnt start it threw the switches. i also had no turn signals either.
