I put in a 45 slow jet and didn't change the main because the dealer said I wouldn't need to change the main.A 175 was stock so I was going to go up to 180 anyhow but they were out of stock.2006 uses a bigger main than some older years.I hope you put in allen screws(float bowl) that way if you need to fine tune you don't need to remove the air cleaner. That is only on 04 and up though.I have a 180 main ordered should be here saturday.I will have $12 in jets and $90 on the air cleaner.
Oh yes, most certainly replaced those bowl screws with allen head screws. The kit I ordered came with the screws. I think I paid $16 for the kit. Got it off of ebay. You may or may not see an improvement from the high jet replacement. I've read that in most cases you don't really see any difference. I think the article stated that the only time that jet comes into play is at when trottle is at and above 75% open. Let us know, your experince when you get the new jet. Would be good info to know.
Will do if weather permits the forcast is calling for some really nasty weather this weekend.I want to do a pre ride the change then main jet and then ride it again.Like I said the guys at the dealer said most people don't need to change the main.I wonder what year they changed the main jet size on the 883.
Dunno about what year, but I think it was either 05 or 06. I've seen some info that leads be to believe the 06 jet sizes aren't the same as the 06's. The stock jets on my 06 were 42 and 175.
