883-1200 conversion, bored .10 over, mild headwork, valve job, upgraded ignition. I weigh about 150#. Buried it at 120 once, my face felt funny, I had to slow down! 100 is easy, but umm...scary. They do not handle like a sport bike!
I have seen between 115-120 MPH on my 08' Nightster. I don't recommend it with stock gearing... Sounded like she was ready to blow. I run her at about 90 to 95 MPH for about an hour when headed from Vegas to my hometown. Bike handles it just fine. I will be installing an oil cooler for next summer though.
Had my stock 95 1200 to about 115 on the speedo a few times, might have had more in it but I had to back off. I installed one of the available fork braces and that seems to have helped the feel of it at speed.
I researched this a couple years back. If I recall, a STOCK 883 will max out at 103 mph, and a STOCK 1200 will max out at 125 totally pushed. Anyone else?
Living in Germany with the Autobahn, I have noticed that my 2011 883 tops out at about 103. So you definitely recall that correctly. Keep in mind I'm kinda' a big guy for a sportster weighing in at about 220.
After my screamin eagle intake and xied's, I think I have hit around 106 but who knows if that was just the wind, hill slope, gas or whatever that made the difference.
