I didnt say i wanted you to run a bonneville.....Dan who.....you mean Hammer dan norlin that prepped his record running bike. Or maybe you mean Aaron Wilson. phhhht
A bigger task than I know.....10 mph....i can only imagine......might be like trying to pick up another tenth or two on the drag stip. Or trying to get my bike another 5mph threw the traps at the drag strip. Might be a bigger task than you know on the drag strip.
Ummmmm Dan owns N R H S and Aaron is affiliated with Hammer.
I am a drag racer, the speeds runs are a hobby of quite a few of us here in the upstate.
As far as the "basics" I've said all I will say. Grenade a few of your own motors and find out.
Ya whack on the new guy, cause he is new and young and doesnt know anything. And he questioned you about a 151 mph run. So he is unworthy. ha
No one said you were unworthy. And a few of us on here have spent countless hours helping members fix and advance their bikes with knowledge and/or parts........ for no charge. Just to see the smile on their faces is good enough.
Next time maybe you'll think before you type. Your first post (as cHarley) quoted set the tone.

A lot of people don't realize that an 883 goes faster in fourth than it does in fifth. See.....you now know what the first thing you need to do is.
PS/hint: The first drag race success/kits were with 883's.

Thanks freebird. fyi...aaron was part owner of NH rs for years. He wrote every tech article on that website. And hammer dan norlin ported heads for years as a subcontractor for dan dunn. Chances are, your sig: if your 1250 was from nh rs. Dan norlin ported the heads.
Ive scrambled a few engines of my own at the track as well.
Its killing me to know the cubic inch of your 150 mph bike! haha
I will give out one bit of info that is the most common and the most overlooked.
Find a machinist that is a master at his craft. I'm lucky enough that one of my friends are one.
Have every and I mean every. rotating part on your bike high speed spin balanced.

Thanks for the info...I have turned to making as much power with pump gas as i can and racing them on pump gas and street compression. Little cheaper that way.

Cubic inches really don't mean a lot. 883's can be made into some of the nastiest bikes on an 1/8 or 1/4 track. And if you can get a hold of cast iron 883 juggs. The possibilities are endless. There is a lot to be said about thick cylinder walls. And being an air cooled engine, alcohol helps make up the difference of a liquid cooled engine.

I totally agree about the alcohol, even tho i have never used it.
Are you talking about 883 jugs and keeping them 883 or boring the cast iron out?
