I have a 11 iron I put v&h blackout 2 into 1 on this weekend. I downloaded the map that fuel moto gave me and now it sputters at around 2000-2500 rpms with a little throttle. Could this be cause by that map?
Sure. However you could also ask if the pipes could have caused it. I bet if you had the original map in there with those pipes you'd get stuttering as well, or at least find somewhere in the operating range that wasn't working as you'd hoped. The map is a lookup table that tells (in simple terms) the brain how much fuel to dump in with each pulse of the injector based on several measurements, like - if the rpms are this, and the ambient air temp is this, and the vacuum is this, the throttle position is this, then look up in the table, and oh yeah there it is, this much fuel goes in..
That is all the map does. Now consider just how difficult it must be to create a map that covers all possible conditions! If you find one, you are lucky.
Vrods are extremely fussy about the mapping, the guys on the vrod forum I inhabit go through SO much trying to get one right. I have what I consider a good dyno tune and related map on my vrod, but it does have a stutter at a certain rpm.
However, my Iron 883, with V&H shortshots, an aftermarket air cleaner and the sert stage 1 d/l, runs absolutely perfectly.
You may need to learn more about your fuel moto's capabilities and take it into your own hands. Or get a thundermax/autotune and be done with it.
