I'm leaning toward that cHarley. I have a rebuild kit ordered but J&P are dragging thier feet getting it to me. I ordered it Oct 25 and after calling yesterday they are saying might be next week before I see it.

Seafoam was exactly my thought, I see cHarly is paying more attention this afternoon than I am. haha

I took advantage of the sky clearing after a morning of rain, and temps in the low 70's for a nice bike ride.

Seafoam is designed to clean gum and varnish (the junk stale gas turns into) from your fuel system. It's also a fuel stabilizer which keeps gas from going stale to begin with, like when the bike is not going to be ridden for several months or more.

You can find the Seafoam in just about any automotive parts store. In the area with other carb cleaners etc. It is most commonly found in a white can about the size of a 16 oz beer, with a lot of Red writing.

Just follow the directions, or in this case, maybe add a little more than the normal ratio. I use this as part of my routine maintenance. When I change the oil, I run a tank of Seafoam treated gas.

Thanks guys I'll try this plus going to put in the kit if it ever shows up. Is there any good products to clean the carb with while I have it apart?

Try the Seafoam first. It's a cheap and easy treatment. If it doesn't work, you will still have some really good stuff to use in the future.

Why rebuild the carb, if all it needs is a good cleaning???

Well my thinking is since the guy I bought it from only put 8,500 miles on it maybe things aren't as limber as they should be. And don't have a piture to share but inlet side of carb when I had it off last had quiet a bit of black on bottom of inlet and on cv slide. I'm a patient man and sure I'll get this problem resolved with help. Will try the Seafoam first if I can get some riding time in.

While I'm thinking of it is there supposed to be a gasket between carb and rear a/c housing? I know there is one between filter and housing but nothing between carb and housing?

Don't worry about responding to that last post. I found a diagram online of a/c assy and shows a gasket between a/c and carb. Mine is missing and I'm sure it was when I bought bike. Might have something to do with my problem. Don't know but guess I should order one. Thanks for all your patience.
