Default PC III

I'm seeing a lot about PC III lately.... but, is it a tuning instrument that i would use like my HD dealer to remap the bike, or sumthin installed on the bike - an if so, then can i remap my bike by myself? Also, any links would be nice... thanks for any info...

I know very little of the race tuners ( PC III, SERT) but from what I have read, it attaches to your bike, and then you can tune it, to get the desired fuel/air ratio. But unless you plan on major mods to your bike, like engine mods, you wouldn't need a race tuner, they are kinda high dollar. And to answer your question, yes, you can do the tuning yourself.

The short version is that a race tuner or tuner does for an EFI bike what rejetting does for a carb'd bike.

Several models to choose from. The two most popular are the Screaming Eagle Race Tuner (SERT) and the Dynojet Power Commander III (PCIII). Check in the Tech forum for more info. Lots of good gouge there.

There are pluses and minuses to both but both will get the job done. I won't try to convince you one is better than the other. They both have merit. However, I will point out that the SERT requires no additional equipment installed on your bike. You connect a cable, do some computer magic, disconnect, and you are done. The PCIII requires you install a module (+/- the size of a deck of cards) somewhere on the bike.

Both can be DIY items.
