so I was riding with my buddy and got engine light and battery light while riding... battery eventually died and got stranded at a service plaza... after jumping bike started and got no more engine/battery lights at idle, bike showed no apparent issues while at idle.. no stuttering... as soon as I got on the highway engine/battery warning lights came back... bike died again.. a very good Samaritan in a ryder truck (biker also)... stopped... lifted the bike, put inside the truck, took us to our destination about 120 miles from the point I got stranded and only accepted a handshake (what a guy!!!)..
Error codes are P562, 1141, 1442 ...
what could this be?.. stator?... regulator?.... help fellas!!.... I am 300 miles away from home..
I would first go to your battery cables and make sure both cables are tight at both ends. When i mean tight...I mean with a wrench...not just "it doesn't look like it wiggles" tight. A intermittent open condition cause by loose cables can cause all kinds of weird issues. I agree with Von....check the fuses too...esp. if the bike is from 07'-09'.
hope you made out ok joe. freakin' batteries....sometimes it's just good to replace them before they start giving you issues based on the age. getting stranded i'm sure sux major ***. get yourself a battery tender jr. and keep that bitch charged! let us know how you made out.
ok the code
P562=battery voltage low
1141=TSM ignition switch low/open
1442= i dont see that code
I think the OP meant 1142....I don't think any codes go past the mid-1300's.
1142 = Interal failult with the HFSM (hands free security module - turn signal module). Service manual states this indicates a failure for which the HFSM must be replaced.
1141 actually has multiple codes to it. Turn signals will not flash and ignition switch low/open. There is a trouble shooting process for this although I haven't looked into it a lot as most require a HD breakout box to check connections. It is possible to check it yourself although I haven't read through the process yet.
When exactly did the bike die during both times? At what speed? Do you have a security system on it? If the battery dies in the FOB it will kill the bike although I believe it only happens once the bike is going under a certain speed. Manual recommends changing the battery every year.
