Default Lets see your speaker set-ups!

I'd like to add some sort of speaker set-up on my 48. I don't want to wear earphones(earbuds) because I want to hear what's going on around me but I'd like to jam out a little, too. What's your set-up?

This is probably of no help, I don't have speakers attached, but if I do go on long trips, alone, I'll throw in my Bose earbuds. The only way I can hear the music is if the volume is all the way up and my windshield is on. If not, the wind noise at highway speed is too much. With the windshield on, I can hear the music and hear my bike. I'm sure if I wore a 3/4 or FF helmet I would hear the music a lot better.

I bought a set of speakers last winter. I installed them, used them once and took them off. The problem I had with the whole thing was that to hear the music over my bike at any speed over 30mph, I had to have them pretty loud, almost cranked. No problem, until you stop and they are blowing your ears out. I have an inline volume control, but still a PITA.

The system I had was called SHARK. IT was a pretty nice system. The speakers were larger than expected. They sounded good at low volumes, but were real fuzzy when cranked to the max. I don't really recommend them for a Harley. They would be great on a quiet metric. They were cheap, like $80. as comparted to cycle sounds which are like 300. You get what you pay for!

I have limited and still after two years trying to find a system that will blow my face off, I have some leads in the new england area for the summer to take care of that but as far as putting tunes on a sporty, well I cant see how you would hear them. I put sampson slashers on it and took off the SE pipes there is no way I could hear tunes on now. I guess it depends on what you want. I have head of the shark system metioned on this thread but small speakers give you exactly that, small sound. Good luck finding something that works for you, if you find something that does work be sure and post.

I wont ever ride with anyone with speakers on their bike. Nothing more annoying than when you stop and they are blasting. You look like a tool on a sporty with speakers...IMO. My pipes are all the sound I need

I have a small $30 12V stereo system with the speakers installed in a FF helmet under the liner. I used a 2" hole saw to remove some of the foam inside the helmet for the speakers to fit into, I then used 2x 3 pin electrical connectors, 1 between the speakers and the head unit and 1 between the head unit and the motorcycle battery. with the wires tucked into a jacket it's very hard to tell I'm wearing it. I made this years ago and use it with my Ipod. because it's a 12V system it has plenty of volume, I only need the volume up to about 25% to hear eveything at any speed.

Now that Bluetooth helmets are getting better I will probably soon get one so I wont have to deal with the wires. The Scala G4 units are neat but I dont think I can trust to them to be loud enough. I hear Sena makes a louder unit, I still need to look into it.
