Dumb Question
When I was signing the paper work, I asked the dealer what the "P" at the end of the name stood for. Dude said he honestly didn't know.
Anyone out there have a clue? Dumb question, but it's bugging me.
Thanks.

You are the first that I have read that did the custom program. How did that go? Were you happy with the process? I assume you are pleased with the bike.
How about some pictures of the bike, especially what you had customized?

To answer your question:
The experience was excellent. The bike arrived at the dealer 10 days before scheduled arrival
First off, though, the salesperson didn't want to deal with me. I believe it was because my purchase was a little more complex than selling me a used POS bike off of the floor. Dude was just lazy and the H-D1 build requires a little more work on the dealer's part (estimating labor to get you an out-the-door price).
Anyway, I simply went to the Sales Manager and he was more than happy to sell me a bike, though.
First off, while I understand that the process really isn't "customization," it does get you the features you want in the color you want. As far as building the bike online, you have to pay attention to the details as some set-ups won't work with others (i.e. you need a tail-lamp relo kit for the rigid bags, the chrome plates only work if you do this, that or the other, etc.). I spent hours dicking around with the online builder, but it was fun so I didn't mind.
Anyway, here's what I got:
>> Brilliant Silver Pearl color. Man, did I want a silver bike! The color is sweet.
>> Spokes on front and back (instead of the 5 spoke deal they're now offering). Wanted a classic look.
>> Black header pipes
>> Chrome Screamin' Eagle Buckshot heat shields
>> Mid-controls. Say what you want if you love the forward controls...I test-rode a 2012 Sportster with forward controls and I prefer the mid. Wanted the mid right out of the factory. Can always change later.
>> Engine guard
>> Highway pegs
>> Rigid, locking bags
>> Chrome side plates on the back-end to switch out various size sissy bars or quick removal of sissy bars entirely
>> Mini backrest (sissy bar) with small luggage rack
>> Taillight relo kit
>> Two-up seat
>> Had the dealer install Screamin' Eagle Stage I Slip-Ons...perfect sound for me. I'm not a real loud pipe kind of guy. When I chose the slip-ons, though, the parts guy let me listen to some Vance & Hines, Rush and Screamin' Eagle Stage II.
>> Had the dealer install new grips...love 'em!
>> I have a windshield on the way...I plan to do some touring and after spending some time on the highway I believe that it's a must.
In closing, did I pay a lot and will I suffer some pretty big depreciation? Yes.
But do I know I got a brand-new bike with a start on the things I want? HELL YES!!!
Overall, it's been a pretty cool process. Hope that answers your questions. I'll put some more detailed pics up later.
In the meantime, the bike should be in my signature below.
Thanks for the interest.
