One would assume that if your messing up controllers every year there is another issue
The stock nosecone modules on sportster have been problematic. They get too much heat down there and eventually fail. The stock ones tend to be hit or miss in this aspect. I haven't had any problems with mine, but I know some guys who have.

The SE nosecone modules have been discontinued because of the problems. I had one and it shut down on me going about 70MPH in heavy traffic, It was almost a deadly experience! Harley has not made a replacement for it yet that I know of.
