Rear Stoplight Switch Troubleshooting?

Rear Stoplight Switch Troubleshooting?
I was replacing my front turn signal lenses, checked all the lighting. It appears my rear stoplight circuit is out. Front brake works the light, rear does not.
My brakeswitch has a red and orange wire. I'm assuming that the red is hot. If I find power there with ignition on, does that mean the switch is bad?
Anyone have experience testing this thing so I can do it myself if it's the faulty part?

I was thinking of running a short jumper wire between the red and orange, bypassing the switch. I assume if the brake light goes on, its definitely the switch. You have the same year bike I do, nice to know your switch was the problem.
