Default New Mods

A while back I moved the ECM, added a 48 speedo mount and a bottom mount head light but decided to make a few changes this winter. I just completed the first stage, chopped the rear fender and struts and went with the 160 rear tire. I have a Larosa Spring seat on the way and I have a 3" rim at Buchanan spokes having custom spokes made and mounting a narrow glide Hub so I can run a 16" 120 front tire. I hope to have the seat and Wheel back by next Friday and mount the front tire and seat next weekend.

Here are a few shots of the progress.

Not hard, I used a cut off wheel but have used a jig saw in the past. I find it better to cut the side near the bike to keep the factory line on the edge and if you screw up it will be covered by the seat.

Looks nice. The 160 doesn't rub the belt? No other mods to warehouse that tire, right?

Why did you go with a 3.5" rim for just a 120mm tire"

Several reasons but the big one I wanted a 16" wheel and may go to a 130 later on

I'm curious as to your other reasons. I get asked to do this mod often and it would be nice to know other takes on it so I can provide options. Thanks.

The 16 x 3.5 wheel offers a lot more options on tire size and is a common HD part. If I swap to a Midglide front end kit it comes withe all the correct spacers for my stock hub. This allows me to run a 120 x 16 with the narrow glide FE or a 130 with the Mid glide FE. If I do the Mid glide conversion I will probably do a chain conversion as well so I can run a 180 rear and a 130 front.
