Hey guys I have been doing some searching for a black spike intake for my 2009 Nightster. I have found this one http://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-David...xp_grid_pt_1_0
But I'm not sure if it will work be it has something about S&S and CV carburetor on it. And then it goes to say about With this get the proper beatherkit.
What is the right breather kit for me and what is SS AND CV stand for?
Okay thanks for the info.
I know this is gonna be a stupid question but when it says a proper breather kit bracket what does that mean? I would figure everything I would need would come together and not in pieces
No that's not a stupid question. Companies make a basic air filter unit to fit a variety of bikes. Sportsters use a different mount than all other Harleys and even Sportsters use different crank case breathers & carbs throughout the years.
The breather kit they are talking about does 2 things. It will provide filtering for your crank case breather holes and also helps secure the throttle body to the intake manifold. They range from around 30 bucks up to a hundred or so depending on how fancy you want it to be.
Although, your stock throttle body mounting bracket will work by itself so you may only need to buy breathers. Look up DK Customs here. They sell individual bolts that have built in breathers that would look really cool with that air cleaner.
