Just got a 2003 883. Gonna go bobber with it. Shopping for bars I keep seeing two terms I don't fully understand. Dimpled bars and stepped bars. Can anyone help me out here? I'm new to "wrenching" so forgive me if this is obvious.
Look at the bottom of your switch housings, you will see dimples in the bars where the wires exit the housings. The option is to run internal wires through holes that are located about where the dimples are. My T bars have both and I ran internal wires.
Stepped bars are usually 1 1/4" bars stepped down to 1" where the switch housings and the controls go to accommodate the 1" housings.
I have 1 1/4" T bars and they feel so much better than the thin stock bars seems the weight removed any vibration in the bars. The stock bars were about as heavy as the handle bars on a bicycle.
