Hi,
Just bought a used Sportster custom 883 2005 model after a change of heart from cbr600; Never rode a HD nor even paid attention uptill now..hopefully it'll be pleasant experience. Pls advice on following;
** bike currently has cobra pipes....not sure if this will impact my installation of air filter project **
1) k&n air filter kit? worth spending 200$? or is there any alternate to it ? (cost effective would be big plus)
2) how to change stock tail to a flush mounted or some other version? a DIY or few supportive weblink would be great.
3) How to/change rear turn signal to flush mounted version? did some forum search but could not get exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks
looking forward to get more tips' n trick from members in coming days...

Reason: updated model year
Congrats on the new ride. I love my Sporty, but it's no CBR600 + was never designed to be, whole different animal. You'll need to post the year so they know if it's carbed or EFI, rigid or rubber mt.

he did in the orig. post. (first sentence actually). yes it's carbed and a rubber mount. see "mreed" for his DIY hi-perf air cleaner install that should only set ya back about 50$. by flush mount tail, i assume you mean a slammed/shorter rear fender. plenty of threads on here about that just use your search and look for "chopped rear fender" or "chop" in general. i also have a thread on this but used the same method as many others. rear turn signals need to be removed from the perches that they sit in and you can mount them a heck of a lot closer to the *** end using smaller bolts as the bolt used from the factory for those is super long. just go to mreeds or my user page and search in the statistics tab for threads started. hope this helps.
I have the K&N Air filter on my bike and it works great. Noticed the difference immediately. I'm happy with my buy. However if you can get the same results with what was offered in previous responses it does sound like a better deal.
