Default Peanut Tank Question

Hi,

I have a 2005 XL1200C and I've been wanting to put a peanut tank on it. Right now someone on CL is selling a 2004 Sportster Peanut Tank. Will that be compatible with my bike? If I don't purchase that tank on CL, can I just buy any peanut tank out there or is there certain peanut tanks I should stay away from?

All the help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced.

You need to shop for tanks that are 2004 to 2006. The one on CL will bolt right up if it's from a 2004.

Well.. I picked up the tank. I'll figure out what to do with the spedo later. in the mean time I'm gonna strip it, clean it up and then paint it.

What do you guys think? picked it up off CL for $60

I know it's all scratched up but hopefully I can get it all cleaned up after I strip it.

Worst case scenario it'll be my practice tank where I get to paint different color schemes on it.

I believe so, according to the research I did online, but I won't really know till I fill it up with gas.
