Hey there Wild Bill! I absolutely am blown away with that flame job on your bike. I personally wanted to make the short shots my pipes of choice, but, the boys at the stealership here in Halifax, Nova Scotia told me that if I put anything but harley pipes on my 1200c that I would "VOID" my warranty. Looks grate!
Thanks! Actually the flames are just decals. I couldn't afford the $1000 to have them painted on so I got the decals for around $37! I got them at http://cyclegraphics.com/productpages.shtml
Thanks for the update and thr BIG picture. Nobody has those in my neck of the woods. I am going to order mine for my 1200c. I'll tryto fool the fossils I ride with that I painted them on. They kind of squint a lot if you know what I mean.
Got my stock 1988 883 up to 105-110 ONCE! Yes, I was younger.........then, and had to play with the new toy. I tell you now, I wouldn't do it again..........not on two wheels anyway.
I had my 883c up to 105 had my head tucked down by the tank ran out of straight road it might of gone a little faster but not much. It is not the type of bike you want to be driving at that speed for very long. I had my brother's CBR-R Honda up to 140 and it still had more in it and was much more stable at 100 mph than my Harley. I did not by the Sportster for high speed riding, but I could not resist seeing what it would top out at.
Ive had my stock 883 up to 150 or so, Oh wait a minute, I'm from Canada so that would be in Kilometers. Haha.........100MPH and she feels like she's doin 200MPH. Just love it.
The 883 has different gears than the 1200 resulting in higher rpm at a given speed. The owner's manual on my 883c recommends 90mph max but I've touched 100 no problem. Since I punched out my 883 and added pipes,ac & rejet mods I still am rev limited but I get there a whole lot quicker.
I had my 883 up to 93 once, before I did the stage 1. The bike was more willing to go faster even then that I was. After the Stage 1, I haven't pushed it. Except for one time, but that was with a police escort, and against my will. I hit 100 on that short FAST ride.
I would certainly think a 1200 could do 120. If you have the ***** to hang on to the bike.
