I have an 06 1200c with SE pipes, breather and jet kit. I may have hit 100mph 2 or 3 times. A fellow sportster rider who has basically the same upgrades as I do says he has hit speeds of 120-5mph. He has a history of telling loooong tales. This is leaving me wondering if this is fact or fiction. He only has about 6 months riding experience in total and weighs about 245lbs. Is this atotal crock of s**t or what? Really what would be (roughly) the top speed of a sportster with this kind of upgrades?
Did over 120 (speedo) bone stock after break-in with a windshield. Retried and did 120 mph (GPS certified) then backed off. Both tests on a closed road near the Kansas City area. I now have the Stage 1 upgrades and look forward to re-running this test after dyno tuning next week. So, your friends story is not just a "hog tail."

VERY do-able on a 1200 Sportster. Besides, if he's only been riding 6 months that's exactly the kind offool thinga rider with that much experience would pull. The low-milage rider tends to be the biggest jackass. Woohoo! Look at me Ma! I've only been riding 6 months and I can already do 125!
I was always into speed, so yes I had to do the wide open thingy also. 125 sounds about right. I got to 120 before I felt like I was being torn from the bike. But I did get it out of my system and just kinda cruise now. Seriously, ya gotta play with your new toy.
