Default Little help please

Have a backrest and no instructions, I bought it used. Can I use the bolts that are existing or do I need to buy a mounting kit to attach the side plates? It is a rigid mount back rest. Thanks

Mine came with new hardware, I believe the bolts were slightly longer. You can probably try one side to see if the stock bolts are long enough. You can get to everything inside the fender while the bike is on the sidestand but it will be much easyier if you put the bike up on a lift and pull the lower bolts for the shocks and drop the rear end.

I don't remember using different bolts when I installed my rigid mount sideplates. I DO remember that it would be much easier if the bike is on a jack stand. I purchased one, shortly AFTER I installed the sideplates. I'll check, I probably have the instructions that came with my sideplates.

I installed my rigid backrest with the stock bolts, and had no problem with the bike on the jack stand. Took about 10-15 minutes per side.

Thanks, I'm going to buy a jack stand tomorrow before I start.
