Run your new pipes until u save the money for the tuner. Should not hurt it to run it that way. Even with the stock pipes your still lean. Just get a tuner at first chance and enjoy your ride.

cheers mate, was just a little concerned with what people say as in do's and dont's
Im runnin the XiED's with my short shots and SE round A/C and have no issues with lean running or heat. The XiED's are the best bang for the buck mod you can do
great stuff what are the shipping costs to the uk please
When you are in the shopping cart it will calculate the shipping on the fly based on your address and which of the delivery options you choose. You can see them all before finalizing and paying.
ALL our shipments have tracking and insurance by default.
I put cycle shack slip ons on my 2009 Sporty 1200 after reading the bike would run fine. The bike ran lean, so I purchased a fuel pak. When you purchase the fuel pak you must also purchase a new air filter set up, I bought the V&H Duke, because since you will be giving the bike more fuel you must also give it more air. So a simple attempt to make my Harley sound like a Harley ended up costing me much more than anticipated. The guys at V&H were very helpful with any questions I had but the fuel pak makes the bike haul *** and in first gear it has no real room for throttle play which doesnt feel right to me in tight spaces like parking lots. Im a greenhorn to this and Im sure some old school guys can elaborate more. My wife has an 03 883 Sporty which is carbed, not fuel injected and its much more user friendly.

OK. Why must you add more air? I thought the Fuelpak is semi-adjustable?
Any item you buy to mod any engine, you have to figure the supporting mods into the price. Add 30% at least to be safe. Many people just get that one thing and then are surprised when there are supporting mods needed. Dump a hot cam and suddenly, your trans is now the weak point and needs work. Fix that and the rear end blows. Cycle repeats. I figured any mods required a retune. Might as well do an AC at the same time so the retune is paid for once. $700 for pipes, $250 for AC, $400 for SEPST and we are now at $1400. Dyno tuning is about $300 so $1700 give or take. Added 30% and it came in under budget. Next time around, I plan to not do a 1250 upgrade only. Heads come off so might as well get them ported. While I am at it, cams. Right now I have the supporting mods for engine in the D&D Bobcat and NRHS AC and the tuner. When I get ready to upgrade, the SEPST is already there as is the AC and pipes so we will get down to the rest of the engine and a dyno tune after it is done. All would be a winter project. Take the bike out and it is tuned and ready to rock.
Did you try adjusting your throttle cable to give it some play or were you talking about something else?
I tend to be more precision oriented so carbs are not an option for me. Only my lawn equipment is carbed because I can't find FI stuff that makes economic sense. I wouldn't take a carbed powersport toy if it was given to me unless it was to sell it. When I changed altitude, we had to rejet. I sold the wife's ATV for the same spec model a year later when FI came out. Same thing just FI. Went up 10000 feet and rode with no tweaking. Went to 5000 feet and same thing. Someone with the same machine went up and it sucked.

Im not sure about the air filter, this was told to me by this old dog who has a shop locally. He told me this when I inquired about the fuel pak so I think he was being straight up, basically said if youre going to do one you gotta do both. Yes, I did adjust the throttle cable. Long story short it would be beneficial for me to meet someone locally who could or would school me. Like I said Im green to this.
At one point I just had the stock AC, HD down load and the baffles removed from a set of SE slip on's and the bike was fine, plugs did not look bad at all. Lost a bit of low end punch, but the sound was worth it.
