Oh, be careful with the instal, the do scratch easy. After the first scratch, i put some painters (blue) tape aroundthe ends and the bends that get near the jugs til i bolted them up.

My under, which is standing is that the 2:1 helps scavenging which gives the low end a little help. Not sure what your fence argument is but would love to hear it. A couple of people, one of whom was NRHS, IIRC, also did concur with it. I'm going off a car model where you have better scavenging with say a tri-Y header than just 8 pipes venting to atmosphere. At least at low end. Upper end isn't so significant.

I haven't been getting out as much. I moved from Keller to Arlington so I took some time getting settled into the new place. My friends still ride just about every Sat leaving the Valero at Golden Triangle and N Beach at 8:30 am. I will be out of town this weekend but will ride the next.

You will need to decide if you like the wrapped look, cuz they get HOT! Wrapped, they are very bearable.

The wrap for me was purely cosmetic for me since they were pretty blue from a poorly tuned bike when I bought it.

Ok, first time I have been on this site from my pc and seen your sig pic .. been using the mobile version on my phone and it did not show. I did not realize that thee existing pipes on your bike were wrapped.

For me, I liked the 2:1 design and wanted it on my bike, but did not want the wraps. After installing them, I found that they were seriously hot and burned holes in all of my jeans. I looked around for heat shields that looked ok with the pipes. NOGO! Checked with V&H, they did not make them and actually advised me to wrap them.

I tried to have shields made from the Short Shot heat shields since they appear to have the same bends ... NOGO!

Checked out having an Indy bend some pipe and make shields .. too much money to make and then have ceramic coated.

Finally gave in and wrapped them. Been about a year now and I love the way they look. Took about a week to get used to wrap.

As for performance, I noticed some decel popping after install; that was corrected with the Fuel Pak. I never had the bike Dyno'd, but it was definitely more responsive after adding the 2:1s and the sound...DAMN! Firggin awesome.

I can rumble out of my residential area without waking everyone and with a slight tweak of the throttle can set off every car alarm. The pipes let out a nice low rumble that sounds kinda like a chopper flying right over head.

Hope you like yours as much I like mine ... post some pics after the install.

I did notice on the Vance and Hines web site they do sell wrap for these pipes. I'm assuming that since they are coated that they would stand up to being wrapped. I don't wash my bike with a hose and I don't plan to go out when it is raining so I have no worry about damage while being warpped. I will have a dyno tune after install so I will see how hot they actually get with the bike set up properly. Who knows, they may end up wrapped. I do like the look of yours with the wrap on.

Oh, dont worry about riding in the rain. I have rode through straight up downpours, some including hail....the pipes are hot enough to burn off the water instantly.
