I have my sportster 2003 883 to 1200 conversion complete, I had a local mechanic do the work, port polished heads , crane ignition module , pistons rejet and now an ignition coil, bike runs like a scalded ape its great but it was hell to get it done he had my bike for over a month and every week was a new excuse, i have already paid for the work. He is in a local mc and i know the vp so i let him do the work. I dont know enough about the parts of this bike so I want to make sure im not getting scammed here but we there are alot of parts on the bike that we had talked about and they changed along the way. He was supposed to get new jets but he drilled some out off another carb... when was supposed to rejet it after the break in ... he gave me a baggy with some jets in it that he said he had just changed out but they where polished as could be inside... not one scratch from the drill out, instead of reverse dome pistons he went with plain pistons, instead of the crane coil he put on a screaming eagle even though he told me the crane was already there. The bike ran great after the build, he didnt put the new coil on until i broke it in and he "re jetted it" the new coil is a screaming eagle coil (better or worse than the crane that he said would be the best one for the bike) I picked the bike up and drove it home 5 blocks parked it and then went out yesterday before it got dark and went for a ride the bike died no sputter just immediate loss of power and it died (600 miles after the rebuild) It had a full tank of fuel and nothing looked loose but i checked all the spark plug wires and the coil wires and it was fine. it started after many attempts that seemed like no spark. I called him and he kept telling me I was out of gas. I drove it 50 miles or so and came home, today it died 2 times I called him and he told me to switch the 2 ignition wires going into the coil, ive put 20 more on it since the coil wire swap and it drives just like before. The times it failed it was random and sudden. I wanted to look at the crane ignition that he installed and saw what is in the pic to be shown, It didnt look like the crane one that he had shown me but it may install on the other side of this plate or something like that I dont know enough to tell. I just feel like he has "swaped some key parts in this with little to no explanation and I am not happy about that. im also going to include a pic that looks like the ignition that he showed me so hopefully someone can explain this to me, Maybe its a part that goes in a different spot or something like that?
you where right, went to see the vp he lives 3 blocks over.... pres was there too met him for the first time, he looked at the pics , read all the text , said it will be fixed within the week, either by the mechanic or by the club. He looked pissed ...
