i have the hd fairing and i just put that shield on top Its the cheap slip streamer detachable one's just for longer freeway trips, I know some of you may find it ugly but it is very functional for me im 5"8 and no wind on my face at all, once i put my hand on top of my head and i can feel it rushing just on top of my helmet.
also just a tip on freeway riding do not white knuckle the bars
Nothing wrong with a shield at all, had them. Just stating you can get accustom to riding without them. The "man up" quote was a joke. It's all a matter of personal preference, doesn't make you less of a biker. It's your ride, do what it takes to get the most enjoyment out of it.
I got a Memphis Shades "Del Rey" with quick release last year. It does a good job of taking the wind off my chest on long trips and I get no buffeting. Cost me ~$200.00 (shield and hardware) at Dennis Kirk.
Here is a pic on my XL883L...
Looks nice. Mind to post couple more pictures from other angles? Thanks
Sikk50 does that arlen ness actually take wind off? I've been thinking about one for a while just don't wanna spend the money if its only cosmetic ya know.
Update:
I guess that having more saddle time will make a difference, and also making sure to synch up the NovDOT so it doesn't want to lift off your head.
Or maybe the wind wasn't as troublesome...
But 70 - 80 mph wasn't near the problem that I previously thought it to be. I wouldn't say it was fun enough I'd enjoy it for a really long stint, but it is definitely something I could get used to.
I had my nightster 2 years before getting an HD quick detach this spring. I haven't taken it off since. Sure makes the longer rides more enjoyable. We got some big *** bugs in Texas. Those SOB's sting the face when you hit em at 70-80 mph.
