interchangeable seats

I have an '03 883, and the other day a friend of mine stopped over to show me his new (to him) '06 1200 sportster. we were comparing the two, i noticed that he has like a sundowner seat on his and i have the factory original. we are talking about swapping them out. just asking, all we have to do is swap the seat and the retaining strap, correct? thanks

yeah i think it might just be a straight swap.
best way to find out is get your buddy over and try to swap them.

Won't fit. The frame was changed substantially in 04.

+1 - 2004 and up have a different frame. Almost nothing is compatable between 03 and earlier vs 04 and later.

i thought the samething, we live a good distance apart and we only meet at work, he just stopped by long enough for me to look at his bike, and had me wondering. we are both riding tomorrow and was going to do the swap at lunch, but now we will pass. thanks
