hi, i just bought an 84 xlx 1200 and Im VERY new to harleys...
-whats the difference between and xlx and xlh?
-would i be able to fit a tank or seat of an xl 1200 or do i have to specifically get xlx parts?
-what year sportsters are compatible with this model? (for instance you can put a 2003 seat with any 03 xl or newer)
i just really want to know what year gas tanks and seats to look for that would fit my 84' xlx 1200.
i want to get a tank and seat exactly like this one...anyone know where i can find a seat like this?
From what I have read, the XLX-61 frame was the introduction of the frame that continued up until '04. In '86 all XLs used the XLX frame and the designation "XLX" was dropped. From what I understand then, is that anything for XLs from '86 through '04 (frame and body wise) should work. But from '83 through '85 there were the XLX-61 frames and the XLH frames, so there may be differences in those years.
