Default Lean?

Bike has been running pretty much drag pipes and the 4in open round air cleaner with Xied's. Feels like it runs pretty good. When i pulled me old exhaust the other day i glanced into the port and noticed that it is awfully white which would indicate its on the lean side. I pulled a plug and the plugs are actually pretty clean and not really white. They have been in there for approx 1200 miles. Im not sure if i like the look of the inside of the exhaust ports though being so white like that-

I don't know much about the Xieds, but I do know they also offer a 13.8 version (and variable ones) as well. Just not sure why everyone uses the 14 by default. I would be richening it up if it were mine, I had to have some exhaust valves faced due to too advanced timing and pulling a wave runner for an hour long trip.

Those plugs look even leaner than mine did with just Short Shots at 1,900 mi.

yeh...those plugs are a bit on the hot side...you want them to look "rusty"

Coming out of a fuel injected bike plug looks pretty normal, on a carbed bike you want them light tan. My rear port looked like that but then the rear head runs hotter. Personally I wouldn't worry about it.

They look pretty good to me. The biggest AFR indication is the base ring (yours looks good, black but not flaky build up), and for heat range you look at where the color changes on the ground electrode (1/2 way is best, but Harleys tend to run hotter period).

Pulled my plugs and checked them Sunday. They looked just like the ones in your pic. I'm thinking they looked pretty good.
