Default Pullback risers vs dogbone?

Hi...
I have a 2006 1200 low sporty with stock buckhorn bars. My arms are a bit too short and I have to reach some which gives me a backache. I would like mini apes but cannot afford to do the whole change out of cables involved.
I only need about 2" up and 2" closer to me for comfort I think.

I'm thinking about some kind of risers and keeping the buckhorns since that seems like a less expensive way to go. Can anyone explain to me the differences, pros, cons of using risers vs pullback risers, vs dogbone risers? I don't know enough about them to make an informed decision.

Thanks for your help

Kim

I'd been suffering from the same problem. Leaning forward was killing my back.

I can't answer your question about different types of risers, but I did install 4 1/2" pullback risers on my '06 883L without any cable changes.

A couple of things though, I don't use the buckhorn bars, I didn't like the way they twisted my wrist in. I use whatever they call Nightster style bars. That might effect the cable length somewhat.

Also, I bought my bike used, it's also possible the PO had extended the cables.

The other thing you have to look at, what are you going to do with your speedo? Options would include a relocation kit, mounting it on extended eyebrow bolts or using cable clamps on the risers. I went the cable clamp route, if you are going to do that make sure you buy round, not oval, risers.
