Default stock shocks

My wife has a 06 883 low. What are the length of the stock shocks 11" ??
I would like to add a little more travel to the back for more weight and was wondering if the shocks off of 1200 custom would help. Before you start thinking she needs to loose her fat ***, I triked out the sportster and with that and a passenger it bottoms out on rough streets. Thanks

The stock shocks are, in my opinion, the weakes link on Sportsters. I tossed them and got Progressive 440s. They come in various lengths. Mine are 13.5. Shop around, my 440s are very stiff so I just sent them back for returning. I'll let you know how they r when they get back.

Clyde, I have 2007 1200C that came with 11.75" stock shocks, I quickly labled them the immoveable object because even the smallest of bumps were spine jarring. I installed 13.5" Progressive 440s and never looked back. I don't if 13.5s are doable with the low. I learned from my dirt bike days, (Maico) and stockcar days that when it comes to suspension, more is always better.

IBG, did you get the HD 440s, I got the standards, I weigh right at 200 and the standards are perfect.

The stock shocks on the trike measure 11.5" on center don't know if they are 12" shocks and the weight of the kit drops them to 11.5". I have a set of 13" air shocks off of my RK I thought I would try (because I'm cheap) but I don't want to raise it over 1", thanks for the help.

Clyde, remember that the shocks lean back at approximately 45 degrees so the bike will only be raised half or slightly less of the additional length.

Throw the RK shocks on, that is what a lot of people run on their sporties on here. I recently bought some but have not installed them yet seeing as how I am out of the country...
Also shocks are at an angle so it wont be a true 1" raise and just through some searches you will hear the praise of using RK or SG shocks on here. In fact if you want to go closer to stock there is a set of SG shocks in the classifieds for 125$ shipped if they havent sold yet and they are 12".
Good luck

I don't remember the stock shock length on the 06 883L. I think it is 11.5", but not sure. I have 12" Progressive shocks on mine, and they work very well for me.
