I saw one of these before, and the price, was with tools included, but it was close to 4 grand, and the bike new difference is 2 grand. It must just be the want for the bigger displacement after the fact.I suppose you'd take more than a 2 g beatin trading it in.And if your already prepared for task, with tools and that......
chrism84..The wife says that she only notices more vibration when the bike is at idle. She says there wasnt really any difference at faster speeds for her. The bike is a little louder but its a completely different tone. She will have no problem going on long rides this spring.
Milt....Maybe I misread your post but to do this conversion is nowhere near 4k even if you had to buy all the tools. Cost me $857 for the kit. Would have been $750 but I had NRHS gap the rings and install the piston into the jug and I also purchased the gasket kit so I had every gasket I needed. It dosent take many tools to do the job. It would cost no more than $200 for all the tools needed and then only if they were Craftsman ones.
I suppose it would cost alot more if you were to go with different heads and cam and had someone else do the work for you. For me it was just replacing the jugs and pistons.
so bubbas has the cylinder color come to match the heads coloryeat?? jsut wondering b/c you said that the color was off a little bit....also those are revese dome pistons so are they closesly weighted to the 883 as if you did the 1212 kit??
The bike now has 100 miles on it. (Thanks to the 1 nice day earlier in the week)You cant tell any difference in color with the cylinder head anymore.
Dont know about the weight of the pistons. Call up Dan at NRHS. Super nice guy. Always willing to answer questions.
Wife is thrilled with the conversion. (You know what that means..if the wife is happy...everyone is happy) No more hauling *** trying to keep up with me from a stop. Give us a decent week of weather and she will have the conversion broke in. Then its off to get it dynoed.

Could you PM me the contact and all the info for ordering the exact kit that you got? Pistons installed and all... thanks and thanks for the tutorial!!
Good news on the conversion, bubba! I finished mine up yesterday with pretty much the same experience as you - surprised that it started right up and no leaks...and sounds fantastic.
I'm going to heat cycle it today and now all I need is some decent weather to start breaking it in. (24) deg. here this morning)
davidc - that is the kit that I used and I beleive bubba used. Great people to deal with - I highly recommend them.
