I just changed my handlebars, and got everything wired back up fine (so I think). When I turn the key, everything lights up (signals work, idiot lights, brake light, headlight, etc), and when I switch to "run" it makes the normal noise. But when I hit start, I get a click and all the power goes out. I then have to take the maxi out, reinstall, and then it will do the same process all over again.
Any help troubleshooting would be appreciated. It's an 08 Nightster, now with 10" Z bars, just had it's 10,000 mile checkup last week, and everything was working fine prior to this.
Check to make sure that none of the wires in the switch housing are somehow shorting out on the bars. That'd be my first guess assuming you didn't mess with the plugs under the tank.
Edit to your edit: Blowing the fuse sounds like there is a short somewhere.
Since it seems to be just when your trying to start....Check and double check them wires to the starter button. Sounds like it shorting out when you engage the starter to be blowing the fuse.
