That's what I told her. My very first time on a street bike (age 15 ), way to much throttle and off the clutch way too fast. Front wheel came up and didn't stop till I was on my *** and the bike had flipped. All that happened in the first 15 feet of me on my first street bike :-)

I always wanted to ride....so I went to garage party on my bday, got my permit two days later, signed up for MSF class for a month later, got my license and my new '12 883 Iron all within 2 1/2 months!!! Husband doesn't want a bike so I said ok See ya! Even if I have only been out on the road once I ride around and around the park right now but the first tank from the dealer is mighty low and the gas station is only down the road...I say to myself "just go for it" that's how your going to learn...as I see the "scooter" putt putt down the road...I say "If they can do it! so can I" and then the adventure will continue.....Until then I have a bike and Im gonna ride it....woot woot !!!

Well her 2nd ride didnt go as well. She made 3 or 4 laps around the lot then for some reason was headed for a curb. It freaked her out, she grabbed a hand full of brake which at the same time made her goose the throttle a little. She was going about 5, the throttle goose made her go to about 7. She brought it to a very abrupt stop, I was thinking "cool, she recovered well" She was VERY slow in putting her feet down, bike was on its way over before her foot touched the ground............over it went. She got a small scrape on her elbow that didnt draw blood. The bike ended up with a small scuff on the tip of the brake lever and a nickel sized scrape on the rear muffler.....the crash bars did their job.......their staying on

At first she wanted to call it a day, I convinced her to get back on and try again........she did and later said she was glad she did.

Couple things Ive learned, one, these efi sportys shut themselves off if you lay them down. Two, the GF is wearing her leather jacket even if its 90 and shes only going to be doing 9MPH

Her riders edge course starts July 9th

It's good in the end to get that first (and hopefully only) lay down out of the way. It can be a learning experience that can't be taught any other way.
Best of luck & enjoy!
