Default OK another NOOB question.

When coming on and off the throttle on my 1200C at mostly slower speeds I feel and hear what I perceive as gear backlash cluck noise.
At higher speed or RPMs it doesn't seem to be a issue.
I think I am hearing normal geabox noise and possibly not having the engine rev's up where they should be.
Should I hear gear backlash clunk in this situation.
BTW the 1000 service was just performed a couple days ago so the primary chain adjustment should be good.

Sounds like a loose primary chain. Seems strange that it would be loose if you just had a service, but if it was at a dealership maybe not.

You can remove the primary inspection cover and check the slack pretty easily, I see in your sig that you have the manual.

I get the same noise, While cruising around in the lower gears i give the bike some throttle kind of in bursts and get a clunk sounding like its from the front of the bike. Its the same if im holding clutch in to cruise after getting up another 10 MPH then when i let the clutch out again at same speed i started from i get a clunk. Same when downshifting, which is less of an issue seeing i rarely do so when comeing to a stop(ill gear down but not engage the clutch until maybe 1st gear before the stop.)

I have had 2 sports and they never did what the OP is talking about. The chain might be a bit loose, but they should have checked and or serviced it at the 1K service.

Sounds like a loose primary chain. Don't expect maintenance service at a Harley dealer to be worth the premium price you pay.

Well i have had three Harley techs ride and check out the bike and they all said the same thing.
NORMAL and quit worrying about the noise and ride the sucker.
Now I know why everyone recommends loud mufflers or pipes.
They don't want you to hear all the NORMAL noise.

Quit lugging it. Run the RPM's up some and that noise will go away.
