Is this really true........ If I getaftermarket pipes....such as V&H..... that its best to go with Harley race kit, instead of the V&H fuelpak????
My dealer said that Harley will also not vold any warrrenties if i use there download..... but 479.00..ouch..........
Can't tell you what's best for your needs, but I can tell you that my dealer said for me to save my money and buy the remap rather than the race tuner. The remap charge is a third of the cost of the SERT and produced an awesome ECM map that made an additional 16 horsepower and 6 ft-lbs of torque over stock. The only way you're going to get that out of your race tuner is to putyour bike on a dyno and start tuning with multiple dyno runs and settings.
That's gonna add up the $ and the tuning time in a hurry, and you might not end up with anything better than the proven results I already posted I used V&H slip on exhaust and an HD Stage 1 EFI kit. I also know one other person who went to the dealer with their 07 EFI bike, and after he went and bought the race tuner, he paid the dealer to set it up and run the bike on their dyno. He used the same exhaust and A/C as I did, but achieved about 10 less horsepower than me, and less torque as well. I'd like to see if anyone can achieve better results with a race tuner or fueler, but to this point i'd still recommend the remap from HD.
This should keep you in the warranty books since it's dealer supplied, and also keeps money in your pocket since theremap is a fraction of the cost of the race tuner . Don't forgetwhen the dealer sets up and runs the maps for you, that you're still going to have programming and tuning costs over and above the costs of the race tuner. Thatcan become real expensive!
Are you talking about a SERT? If so, then it's a good tool although pricey. It allows you to adjust more than a power commander or V&H fuelpack. You can buy one from a play that sells them for 20% off like Chicago Harley.
I was told by the dealer that there were no hd provided maps for the 07 sporty. So I bought the sert. All they did was upload the map from the tunner and run it on the dyno. They did not fine tune it, I think I could get a little more out of it but it will take more $$$$$$.
You are looking at several different things...SERT, SERF, remap, etc... First, in my opinion, the remap will serve most riders the best. The Screamin' Eagle Race Fueler (SERF) allows the user to adjust fuel rich (up to 50%) or lean (minue 10%) for the low, mid and high range of operation for about $225. The Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner (SERT) costs more ($480) but allows a user 'remap' of the fuel, ignition timing, rev limits etc.... The FuelPak is similar to the SERF and the PowerCommander is similar to the SERT. There are stage 1 and stage 2 remaps available for 2007 1200 Sportsters and a stage 1 remap for 883 Sportsters. Hope this helps.
