I know many people love the Mustang Touring Seats, but I'm not sure that I like the looks of it on a Sportster. I have a 2007 883 Custom and am looking at the Daytripper, but don't know anyone with it.
Can anyone give an opinion on how the Daytripper stands up to the stock seat? I do mostly in town rides, but would like to be set up for an occasional 2-4 hour ride.
Guaranteed any seat from Mustang will beat out the stock brick. Several folks on here that have the Daytripper love it. But everyone is different so you really need to experience it yourself to ultimately determine that.
I'd give Mustang a call. Those folks know their stuff and are more than helpful.
i started with the stocker... in fact, its cause of the stocker that i got the bike. the wife of the first owner made him sell it cause of the stock seat.
i replaced it with the day tripper. it was better, but still had very limited butt time for the +2. then on to the wide mustang. pretty much unlimited butt time on both front and back. i need fuel before my butt is wanting a break... and my +2 has not complained on this seat.
imo it really depends on how long you will be riding. if just around town, then the day tripper is just fine. and if its just you, the day tripper will work for an hour or two with no problems. but if its longer rides or you got company on the back, you want a more comfy seat IMO.
I have the solo tripper and love it. I've done 700+ mile long trips on this seat and cannot complain. I'm sure there are more comfortable seats out there, but the seat looks great on the bike and to me, is more comfortable than the stock seat. It definitely sits me back another inch or two compared to the stock seat. For a 2-4 hour ride, you will be fine, it will just take some getting used to on the new seat.
Thanks for the different opinions! You're never sure about dropping a couple hundred dollars without being 100%. I think Hazardous Smoker is right and it goes along with everything I've heard, any Mustang seat is better than stock.
I send mine off to Mean City Cycles. For $110 plus shipping they rework the seat using hospital grade memory foam. I had my RKC seat done and it was absolutely spectular when it came back. I can ride all day with no butt burn. I just bought a Sportster 72 which has a brick for a seat. It is going off to Mean City for the same modification next week.
