Default 93 1200s tick

New to the forum here, hello all!

So I recently came across a deal I couldn't pass up. An elderly gentleman was in search of a 4 wheeler and I was in search of a Harley. We struck a deal and I now own a 93 1200 Sportster, I've worked out a lot of the little kinks in the bike (head light randomly not working, tach not working at all etc etc) fairly simple things. I am hoping that this other problem is simple as well, I don't want to start tearing into things with out some insight first.

It has developed, bit of a what I'm going to call a lifter noise. I had put probably 400 miles on it since I took possesion of it, and it didn't make this noise when I first got it. I was told that this bike had only 1500 miles on a rebuilt engine. And it would seem at least by looking at it, that this statement may be true.

This being said, I am familiar with automotive engines, but not so much with motorcycles.

Could it be I simply need to flush the oil and run a cleaner through it or something similar, any input would be greatly appreciated, summer is here and the weather is nice, really want to hit the open road with this thing.

lifter noise is normal on harleys, but I would do an oil change simply because its a rebuilt motor and all. Need to get that break in crap out of there.

My .02 cents from my recent tick sounds. Found it to be my tank rattling against the frame when I put it back on after rewiring my 80 sportster. Just something else to check and easy to fix.
