Whining noise
Wll I fired up my 2007 nightster after meeting me wife for lunch. It fired up just fine but then I notice a high pitched whining noise. I sounds like its coming from the tank. Possibly the fuel pump? It primed just fine and sounded normal before I fired it up. Has anybody had anything like this before? It sounds almost like when you run a wet finger on the top of a wine glass. Thanks guys.

yeah i have the same sound from time to time, I read some post that it could be the hose inside rubbing against the tank, not sure if thats true or not.

There was a Service Bulletin on the early EFI Sporties (that means 2007) that involved, I believe, rerouting the hose in the tank. As installed, the hose in the tank rubbed on something which eventually wore a hole in the hose which resulted in a whining noise from inside the tank.

I have the same issue, and it was really bad this afternoon. I also suspected the fuel pump. It usually goes away after a few miles, but today it stayed on until I shut the bike off at home (about six or seven miles).
I seem to notice it in the afternoon as opposed to any other time.

Took the bike out and got gas since my fuel light had been on for about twelve miles or so.
Didn't hear the high pitched whine afterwards.
So I think it does have something to do with fuel level and the fuel pump.
