Default Slamming!

So after months and months of going back and forth between Burly Shocks or Air Shocks (and dropping my bike last week due to shitty footing) I made my decision to SLAM my Sportster.

Now the question is, should I slam the front and back or just the back? Im not concerned with the look, Im slamming it more due to footing than because I want the slammed look.

If I only slam the back is it going to make a huge difference in performance? Will it not lower the bike enough if the back is slammed and the front is stock?

I am ready to pull the trigger on a Burly Slammer Kit but I could save myself some money if I just get the rear shocks instead of the entire kit. I need some info, especially from you folks with the Burly Slammers on your rides.

I've had the burly kit for 2 years...I only put the rear. Not having the front lowered gives my bike a nice stance and I can't find any wrong performance-wise.

Of course, it is not very comfortable but who cares?

I too only lowered the rear, but I went from the 12.75" stockers to the Lick's gen I Short Shocks.

I just put the 2.5" Burly slammer kit on my 94 sportster. I slammed the rear all the way. Rides fine. You should do the fronts equally with the kit. I bought mine from Amazon. It was $243 shipped. It comes with the rear adjustable shocks, all mounting hardware, and new front fork springs with a spacer. The instructions are easy to follow. I did mine off of a car floor jack and a piece of 2x6 wood. When I said it rides fine, I mean it doesnt rub or cause interference, but its stiff. Make sure you watch out for the rear brake light wire loom inside the fender. If it was taken off and not properly attached, it'll rub the tire for sure. There's usually small metal bendable brackets inside the fender that will take care of this. USE THEM!!! If you use a floor jack, you'll need a second person to help lift the fender to line up the bottom mounting bolt for the new shocks. It lowers it lower than a floor jack will go if you have a piece of wood on the jack, which I very much recommend. Good luck.

I used lowing blocks to relocate the mount of the bottom of the shocks. Makes a big difference. Don't sit at a light with my legs straight any more. Don't forget to get a shorter jiffy stand too. I bike would almost stand straight up when I parked it.

Well thanks for the information everyone, I pulled the trigger and purchased the Burly Slammer Kit today off ebay and should be expecting it to arrive between the 6th and 12th of the month. I will definitely have some pictures up after the kit is installed.
As far as slamming front and back, I will slam the back first, go for a ride then decide whether or not to slam the front too.
Cant wait for the kit to arrive, Im like a kid waiting for xmas morning!
