never hit a dog..many a year ago i had a crow hit my shoulder/chest area....just was getting into evening in the summer ...had just put on my leather jacket thankfully..bout knocked me off the back of the old Shadow 500 that was my scoot at the time...been close enough to deer twice to hear them breathe...but not hit one yet...always a big problem and fear for all bikers here in SE Ohio..thank god you are ok...and you didnt hit my dog...a 140# Rott..he is a hoss..mess your life up on a bike
Glad you're OK. I guess there's only one thing you can say... dog gone it!! I get flashed all the time on my Ultra. I installed the HID headlight, and it really lights up the night. It is aimed correctly (by the dealer), and I have people flash me all the time. I just wave at them, and say to myself "thanks, you noticed me". You could also say "yep, light still works". I can't dim... if I hit the switch, then they get the brights.
Russl179,
Domestic animal in road... owners fault... PERIOD. Duck, moose, deer, bear.. whatever... just bad luck.
When I got my first bike, I got chased by a German Shepard up the street 2 or 3 times a day.Fortunately, the throttle was usually enough to get away from him. After a few close calls and a heated discussion with his owner, I had to try something to stop it.
I headed up the street and here he comes, his owner sitting on a lawn chair laughing like crazy. I slowed a bit and he's coming at me from about the 10 o'clock position. One swift kick under the jaw send him rolling.
The bad news is I thought I broke my ankle (sore for a month), and the guy called the cops. The good news is that from that time on, the dog ran in the back yard whenever he heard a motorcycle and the guy got a fine when the cops showed up.
I do NOT recommend trying to kick an animal the size of a German Shepard (maybe one of those little rat dogs would be ok).
Among the owner, driver and dog, the only one not at fault in this situation was the dog. And it sounds like he got the worst of the deal .... go figure.
