Default Brake light activation by rear brake pedal

'00 Sportster. The brake light works when using the front brake. It doesn't when depressing the rear brake. I've tested the continuity for the brake light pressure switch -- it's good. Ohms are near zero when the pedal is depressed. The brake light comes on when I touch a wire to both terminals on the switch. But pressing the pedal will not activate the brake light. There is power to the switch via the o/w wire. There is ground continuity with the other terminal (the r/y wire).

Any ideas?

A circuit, such as the brake switch, can show continuity with the slightest contact; but not enough contact to carry the current required to do the job -- in this case, lighting a light bulb. The switch was faulty.

I replaced the switch and the circuit works fine.

Hope this will help anyone who has a similar problem.

Just replaced my front brake switch same issue. If it works when you jump the wires together then you have a bad switch
