Default Fork suspension

Was over on the XL Forum and there was an interesting post about H-D not putting the correct fork springs in...way to light. Anyone here agree with this? Don't recall reading alot about fork springs lately. Made sense to me, about the weight of the bike plus the rider and spring weight selection. Have you swapped out fork springs for heavier weights?

I personally do not mind the stock fork set-up. I am 230# and feel the front end is a good balance of ride/handling. As for the springs, they are too light for agressive riding, and just right for cruising...which, last I checked, is what Sportster's do well.
Unlike others experiences, my 07 model does not bottom out, as some of the posts seem to imply. I would also noted that changing the oil viscosity is a valid means of changing the "feel" of the shocks....it is not a solution, however.

The Factory Suspension on a Sportster is aweful! If you ride in a straight line on very good pavement it might be cool , but out on the road it sux!

i will drink to that, i put 15wt in still bottoms i am only 180 lb,problem is cheap junk outdated damper rod in forks ,a progressive spring helps but the 2003 sportster sport forks are the cure, they use a modern cartridge setup, aka sportbike, they are still available at the stealers, look for a dealer that discounts like benjy's or zanotti's mine were 225 ea plus shipping, benjy's are great to deal with, i believe some of the big twins use this system also

While I only weigh 140 and did not bottom my stock springs the overall performance was too harsh and just too much dive and bouncein my opinion. I switched to Progressives and it's a huge difference and well worth the $79 and hour of my time to change them.
